Four years ago, the first conversations that ultimately led to the creation of NETCOT began, setting in motion a journey that has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Then, two years ago today, our version of VMK opened its virtual gates to our guests, and nothing has been the same since. Throughout this journey, one thing has remained extremely clear, we want to provide a welcoming community for those who loved VMK. While the game was initially conceptualized as an EPCOT expansion of VMK, as we moved through the developmental process, it became clear that VMK held such a special place in our hearts and needed to be the base of our game. Since opening our gates, we have had a great amount of excitement happen around the kingdom. We have realized some of the goals we set out with, while also realizing that some of them were still out of reach. But most importantly, we have realized how this community, every single one of us, is part of VMK’s Legacy.
Over the years, we have made new friends, caught up with old ones, and together started carving out a new page in the history of this game. It is because of this that we are happy to announce that NETCOT is going to be going by a new name… VMK Legacy! We feel that this new name more fully represents who we are today, and who we are trying to be tomorrow. It is representative of both the game and the community, and celebrates the history of us all. As with any Legacy, VMK has a storied past, and many people we have come to know and love through this game may have moved on. Our wish is that the game will continue to honor those amongst the VMK community who have come and gone who were vital to many of the experiences we cherish today, some of whom even helped to contribute to this new name!
So what does this mean for NETCOT, the original ideas, and things branded as such within the game? First and foremost we want to say that NETCOT is a name that is close to all of our hearts and this was a decision that came after a lot of discussion. Any items that are in-game named as NETCOT will remain, as NETCOT is a large part of the Legacy of VMK. We also want to say that this may not be the last time you see the NETCOT name, as there are many goals that were previously announced that we would still love to see happen in the future. As we transition to the new name, our netcot.center domain will redirect to vmklegacy.com.
As was mentioned in the announcement from May 29th of this year, the staff team has been reevaluating what leadership for the game looks like. Today, we are happy to make you aware of some of the changes that have already been enacted. One of our big goals is to decentralize leadership amongst the staff team to foster an environment where everyone is heard and valued. Perhaps the most noticeable change from a player perspective will be that the Guest Relations role (GR_) has been retired. Through our conversations, many jobs that were formerly held by members of the Guest Relations team have been delegated out to other teams that make more logical sense.
There are a few other housekeeping items that need to be addressed in relation to the name change from NETCOT to VMK Legacy. First, this will be an ongoing process. While many things, such as the url and discord server names, are active as of today, there may be other items that still reference NETCOT as we continue through the transitionary period. Because of this, we want to stress that you should only follow links sent from Staff Members on our official discord, or posted to our website as vmklegacy.com. Any links from other resources should not be treated as official. Unfortunately, as of this time the NETCOT Wiki is no longer officially linked to the game. The admin access to the wiki is not owned by the staff team, and anyone with a fandom account is able to post to it without us being able to edit. While it will most likely still continue to exist, it is no longer an official resource affiliated with the game and we have no responsibility as to what is posted there. At this time, we are looking into creating a new Wiki that will be owned by the staff team. We will keep you up to date on any changes in regards to this.
Our new name will also be reflected in our contact email. This email will now be [email protected]. As a reminder, any and all issues should be routed to this email address, or sent through the Call For Help feature in-game, so they can be addressed by members of the proper team.
As we look forward to the future of the game, we also now will be reminded of the rich history it has, especially in connecting players 14 years after the closure of the original game. We are excited to continue this legacy with all of you.

Cowabunga, dudes! I’m catching a gnarly wave and riding it into the next Building Blitz Competition… For this contest, you must build your best water slide themed room; and yes, that means that you MUST use water slide pieces, and they must be connected to make a ride! We can’t wait to celebrate the end of summer and see what you dudes create. I don’t want to be a bummer, but we do have to share some of our rules with you: The competition begins July 27th at 10 AM EST and will run until August 3rd at 11:59 PM EST. All submissions must be turned in before 11:59 PM EST on August 3rd for it to be in consideration. Please note this room must be different than any BGR submissions. Everyone is able to participate even if you won the last Blitz.
Rooms with be judged on the following criteria:
- Creativity
-Theming
- Effort
Rooms also must meet the below to be considered for judgment:
- Rides must consist of at least 30 water slide track pieces in the room, and must be fully connected (no gaps)
- Entrance to the ride in the room must be physically accessible
- Rooms that fail to illustrate a sense of vigorous attempt and conscientiousness will be disqualified. For example, rooms with little-to-no furniture, rooms with repeated furniture items that fail to be used constructively, rooms that appear to be lacking remote creativity, etc.
